A clean, cohesive installation for a modern workspace

This project came to Jo-Vin with a straightforward brief: a commercial office with multiple window exposures needed glare control, daytime privacy, and a finished look that felt intentional rather than functional. The solution was a complete custom window treatment package, solar roller shades paired with custom cornices wrapped in the same solar fabric, installed across every window in the space.

The result is an installation where the treatment system reads as a single architectural element rather than a collection of individual shades.

The Treatment: Solar Roller Shades with Fabric-Wrapped Cornices

Solar roller shade fabric was specified for its ability to manage glare and solar heat gain without eliminating natural light or the outward view. During daylight hours the fabric creates a one-way effect: the workspace stays bright and connected to the outside while the interior remains private from street level. The shades filter light rather than block it, which keeps the space comfortable and functional throughout the day.

The custom cornices, wrapped in the same solar fabric as the shades, conceal the roller hardware, brackets, and chain mechanism completely. Rather than an exposed hardware look, each window terminates cleanly at the top with a flush, fabric-covered header that reads as part of the window architecture. It is a detail that separates a specified installation from a commodity one, and in a professional office environment the difference is immediately visible.

The Result

Across every window in the office, the installation delivers on all four performance requirements: glare is reduced without darkening the space, the outward view is preserved, UV protection is built into the fabric regardless of shade position, and solar heat gain through the glass is meaningfully reduced.

The cornice detail ties the whole system together. Where an exposed roller and bracket would draw the eye upward for the wrong reason, the fabric-wrapped cornice simply disappears into the window, letting the room do the work.
